Tips for a good US Passport photo
- Face a window or soft light so both sides of your face are evenly lit, with no shadows.
- Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and both eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
- Have someone else take the photo from about 1.5 m (5 ft) away at eye level. Selfies distort the face.
- Wear everyday clothes that contrast with the background; no hats, headphones or uniforms.
