Frequently asked questions
Is this passport photo maker really free?
Yes. Creating, checking, downloading and printing photos is free, with no watermark and no account.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Face detection and background removal run on your device with WebAssembly. The photo stays in your browser tab and is gone when you close it.
Will my photo be accepted?
The tool sizes and checks the photo against the published rules, which covers the most common rejection reasons. Acceptance is always decided by the issuing authority, so also follow the photo guidance: even light, neutral expression, eyes open, no glasses where they are not allowed.
How do I print my passport photos?
Download the print sheet (PDF or JPG) and print it at 100% (actual size) on glossy or matte photo paper. A 4×6 in print at a pharmacy or photo kiosk usually costs less than a dollar. Then cut along the grey lines.
Can I take the photo with my phone?
Yes. Stand about 1.5 m (5 ft) from the camera in front of a plain wall, face a window for even light and ask someone to take the photo at eye level. The camera mode shows a head guide and tells you when the framing is right.
Can I use the same photo for several documents?
Yes. After processing, choose another document in the picker and the photo is re-cropped to the new size and background instantly.
What about glasses, hats and smiling?
Most countries do not allow glasses in passport photos any more (including the US and Canada), require a neutral expression with the mouth closed, and do not allow hats unless worn for religious reasons with the face fully visible.
Which phones and browsers are supported?
Any recent Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, macOS or Linux. The first run downloads about 25 MB of AI models, which are cached for next time.
